Ethel Oldfield RM, MSc, Tech.CIEHF

Ethel is a Human Factors & Ergonomist Specialist and a Registered Midwife with over 16 years’ experience in healthcare and agriculture. She has a background in safety investigations, training, safety & risk management. As well as conducting safety investigations, Ethel also provided Human Factors support to the Healthcare Safety Investigation Branch (HSIB) and has delivered Human Factors and investigation training to a range of professionals.

Ethel has worked on projects such as service evaluation and inclusivity, understanding workloads in complex environments as well as collaborative working with national organisations in improving safety. She has held senior management positions at HSIB and is currently engaged as Head of Safety Oversight for the National Health Service in the UK. In addition to this, she has recently delivered investigation training at intermediate and advanced levels in the mining industry.

Ethel has an MSc in Human Factors from Loughborough University and is a member of the Chartered Institute of Ergonomics & Human Factors.
