We deliver an interactive one-day workshop focusing on compassionate engagement with those affected by patient safety incidents. These courses are suitable for practitioners wanting to improve their communication skills, be that through verbal, non-verbal, or written interactions. Our courses focus on engagement principles that underpin the support and empathy required when we engage with those affected.
Course Content
This one-day workshop covers:
- Duty of Candour (DoC) – effectively conducting DoC to support patients and families
- Being open and apologising – the importance of humility and saying sorry
- Just and Restorative Culture – dispelling the myths and promoting the right behaviours
- Effective communication – improving our written, verbal, and non-verbal behaviours
- Effective involvement – collaborative options for contribution from those affected
- Sharing findings – delivering lessons learned in the best way for staff, patients, and families
- Signposting and support – finding out what is needed and highlighting useful resources
This is a practical workshop where all delegates will be encouraged to interact, ask questions, and respond to class challenges. We do this via discussions and group exercises. To help us manage this, we cap delegate numbers to 20 per workshop.
Our preferred delivery method is online, via Microsoft Teams or Zoom to best suit your organisation. We can also offer face-to-face training on request.
For bookings, fees, and further information contact our patient safety training team via email: pstraining@systemicfactors.com.
